What is your life really worth—and what are you spending it on?  In Mark 8:34–38, Jesus challenges his disciples and the crowds with one of his most searching questions: “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”

Jesus frames discipleship in the language of profit, loss, value, and exchange. Following Him may come with a real cost—comfort, approval, status, security, and even our own plans. But Jesus insists that nothing we could gain in exchange is worth the loss of our psuchē—our life, our whole self.  

 The surprising good news behind Jesus' warning is this: you are extraordinarily valuable to God. You are too valuable to spend your life chasing things that can never ultimately preserve you. Jesus is the only one worthy of your whole life—and the only one who gave His whole self to redeem yours.  In this message from our Questions Jesus Asked series, we explore what it means to take up our cross, follow Jesus, and refuse to squander the life God has given us.  Don’t waste your life.
