Luke 11:1-13 | Why A Father? | Alex Culpepper

Life is full of unexpected speed bumps—moments that jolt us, slow us down, and force us to ask new questions about what we’re doing and where we’re headed. In this Father’s Day message from Luke 11:1–13, we look at one of the biggest “speed bumps” a disciple ever faced: watching Jesus pray and realizing, “That’s what we’re missing.”  Jesus responds with what we call the Lord’s Prayer, but instead of giving a formula to appease a distant God, he invites us into a relationship with a Father. We’ll see why the most important thing about prayer is not just who God is, but who he is to us—and how everything in Jesus’ ministry flows from his life with the Father.  Through personal stories, Jesus’ parables about a friend at midnight and a good father, and his call to ask, seek, and knock, this sermon explores how God uses life’s speed bumps to slow us down, reframe our assumptions, and draw us into a deeper, family relationship with him.
